He is the founding pastor of Compass Bible Church in Southern California, where he has faithfully led and taught since its beginning, with a clear focus on helping people understand and apply God’s Word to everyday life.
Known for his straightforward, verse-by-verse teaching, Pastor Mike is committed to making the Bible clear, practical, and deeply relevant. His passion is not just to explain Scripture, but to help people live it—equipping believers to think biblically and follow Christ with conviction in a complicated world.
In addition to his pastoral role, Pastor Mike is the voice behind Focal Point, a nationally syndicated radio program that began in 1998 and now reaches listeners across hundreds of stations throughout the United States. He holds degrees from Moody Bible Institute, Talbot School of Theology (M.A.), and Westminster Theological Seminary in California (D.Min.), equipping him with both theological depth and practical insight for ministry.
Pastor Mike and his wife, Carlynn, have been married for decades and are the parents of three grown children and several grandchildren. Together, they have dedicated their lives to helping people grow in their faith and stay anchored in the truth of God’s Word.
