Short Answer
Yes, Christians should study what the Bible teaches about angels and demons. Doing so is not unhealthy or unspiritual—as long as the focus remains biblical rather than sensational.
The Bible includes extensive teaching about angels, demons, spiritual warfare, and Satan’s activity. Ignoring these subjects can leave believers uninformed about spiritual realities and vulnerable to misunderstanding.
However, Christians should not become obsessed with demons, fascinated by the occult, or consumed with speculative teachings. The goal is simply to understand what Scripture says so we can live wisely and faithfully.
Learning about angels and demons should always lead us back to Christ—not away from Him.
The Overview
Some Christians worry that studying angels, demons, or spiritual warfare may be unhealthy or distracting. Others become so fascinated with the subject that it dominates their entire spiritual life.
The biblical approach avoids both extremes.
The Bible Talks About Angels and Demons
Scripture contains numerous references to:
- angels
- demons
- Satan
- spiritual warfare
- heavenly beings
- demonic deception
Because God included these topics in His Word, believers should not ignore them.
Studying them is part of learning the full counsel of God.
Knowledge Protects Believers
One reason Christians should understand these topics is because the Bible warns about Satan’s schemes and spiritual deception.
The discussion referenced Paul’s statement that believers should not be ignorant of the devil’s schemes. Understanding how spiritual deception works helps Christians recognize error and stand firm in truth.
Avoid Unhealthy Fascination
While study is good, fixation is not.
The conversation warned against developing a morbid interest in demons, supernatural stories, strange experiences, or sensational claims that go beyond Scripture.
The purpose of studying these topics is not entertainment, fear, or curiosity. It is wisdom and discernment.
Angels Are Not Meant to Be Worshiped
Another concern raised was the tendency of some people to become preoccupied with angels themselves. Scripture presents angels as servants of God, not objects of worship.
Christians should learn about them, appreciate their role in God’s plan, but always keep their attention centered on Christ.
Don’t Read Only the “Positive” Parts
The discussion rejected the idea that believers should only study encouraging or uplifting portions of Scripture.
The Bible contains:
- promises
- warnings
- blessings
- judgments
- spiritual realities
- difficult truths
Healthy discipleship involves learning all that God has revealed, not only the parts we find comfortable.

I got a question here. Online. Is learning about angels and demons bad or should we just concentrate on the apostles and Jesus and the positive aspects of it? No, it’s not bad. Matter of fact, I’m teaching on it Friday night training or small group leaders on the topic because we run into it in the scriptures and we need to understand it.
There’s a lot of fear and a lot of misconceptions, and we need to cut through the misconceptions. Understand what the Bible says, not for some kind of thick or, you know, macabre interest in demonic. And it’s really not to talk about all the weird things that people claim. It’s really seeing what the biblical data is. So no, it’s a good thing to learn about angels and demons, but we can’t fixate on them even as it is in Colossians.
There’s something like to learn about angels so they can worship them. We don’t worship them, and we’re not going to be morbidly interested in the demonic. We just want to learn so that we can know. As Paul said, we’re not ignorant of the schemes of the devil. And if we don’t study the demonic, we don’t. We are ignorant of the schemes of the devil.
So yeah, we need to we definitely need to learn about that. I can’t I should never say this is a Pollyanna line here, Pollyanna. Remember that she only want to read the positive aspects of the Bible. So I don’t want to stick with just the positive aspects of the Bible. I need to learn about all the all the things the Bible teaches.
And I’m all about majoring on the majors, but certainly got to tackle some of the negative so that we might be aware, not ignorant of the schemes of the enemy. 1-877-913-5357. That is the number to call.
Second Samuel chapter four, verse seven. Is that the right text you’re asking about? Second Samuel chapter four, verse seven.
I don’t think that’s the passage you’re thinking of. You’re asking about. I bet you’re asking about second, same chapter seven, verse four could be.
Maybe 17. Verse four. Wow. Maybe you should write me back. I just don’t think that’s the right, the right text. Yeah. Matt, if you are listening, you asked about second Samuel and David. Is he speaking of Jesus? I think you’re thinking about the Davidic Covenant. And because of that, that just kind of deciphering the rest of your question, I think that’s what you’re asking.
But write me back because the text doesn’t line up with the question. All right.
